Product Description
The Broadcom MegaRAID 9562-16i is a 16-port Tri-Mode RAID adapter from the MegaRAID 9500 series, built in the compact OCP 3.0 small form factor (SFF) rather than a standard PCIe card. Based on the SAS3916 RAID-on-Chip (RoC), it offers the same PCIe Gen 4.0 host and storage interfaces, RAID feature set and performance as the standard 9560-16i PCIe adapter, while mounting through the server's OCP 3.0 NIC slot instead of a PCIe expansion slot — freeing a standard PCIe slot for other add-in cards such as networking or GPUs, which is especially valuable in dense 1U/2U server designs. Broadcom's Tri-Mode SerDes technology lets the adapter operate NVMe, SAS and SATA devices concurrently across its 16 internal ports (two vertical x8 SFF-8654 connectors), negotiating protocol and speed automatically per device. The 9562-16i includes 8GB of cache memory backed by CacheVault flash-based protection (CVPM05), supports RAID levels 0, 00, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6 and 60, and incorporates hardware secure boot to ensure only authenticated Broadcom firmware runs on the adapter.
